If you’ve lived in Riverside you have probably heard of Simple Simon’s. It is one of the most famous features of downtown Riverside, and is facing Riverside’s only other claim to fame: The Mission Inn. During different points in my life this place received weekly visits, and I’m always going to associate it with my more casual times. I first started coming here in high school after ditching class and wanting a good lunch, the delicious sandwiches were far superior to that subway crap all my other friends were eating at lunch. I once again began regularly patronizing this restaurant in the gap between community college and university where I experimented with entrepreneurship. My friend actually owns a restaurant down the street so it was pretty convenient to get a sandwich while visiting him; although a better friend would have spent money at their friend’s restaurant. Last year was actually the last time I went before this visit, I was going once a week to this place for breakfast or lunch over the course of a quarter last year with Christine. It was during these visits that I discovered my love for their raspberry jam.
The look of the place is classic sandwich shop, and to this day the first thing I think of when I hear sandwich shop.

I got a delicious spinach omelet that includes, bacon, tomatoes, and provolone. The sided up with fruit, potatoes, and sourdough bread that I plan to talk about further down the post.

Just like myself Lisett put an omelet in danger of his mouth. He ordered the winter omelet, it has pine nuts or something, and that scared me away, but it also has vegetables and cheese to make it sound good. Lisett also chose sourdough making our breakfasts differ only in omelet fillings.

Sandra on the other hand decided to screw everything up and order a sandwich. I refuse to talk about her not breakfast oriented order but I will supply a picture.

This is far from the end of this writeup however. Let us discuss their Jam:

Calling it my favorite Jam is an understatement because I absolutely love this stuff. This is the real reason I come here for breakfast, great raspberry jam on great sourdough.

I picked up one final treat on my way out, a chocolate cookie. The best chocolate cookie ever? yes! Do I plan to pick up more as soon as possible? yes!

I tried to get it home intact to take pictures of it, but I failed due to the lure of its fragrance. Walnut and pecans<3 btw.
